Back in the 1950's the City of Richardson saw a tremendous growth in population. Having approximately 1,300 residents the need for more housing was eminent. The Richardson Heights neighborhood was one of the first neighborhoods in Richardson, often referred to as "Bedroom Communities". These 50's era homes were cookie cutter, single story ranch style, 3 bedroom homes, but these homes fit the needs of the growing 'baby boomer' family.
Over the years Richardson Heights has remained a highly popular neighborhood for size of homes, great schools, and convenient location. Located just west of Highway 75 (Central Expressway), the neighborhood offers quick access to the freeway as well as DART rail service.
Homes in Richardson Heights are well cared for by their owners and shows throughout the neighborhood. As homes are updated they still keep true to their 50's beginning.
In 2010, the residents voted for the 2010 Bond Program to help with city revitalization projects such as new playground equipment, new parks, recreation centers, etc across the city. As part of the bond program, a new neighborhood park was completed in May of 2013. Durham Park, named after the Durham family who originally own the land Richardson Heights was built upon, has a pavillion for picnics, a playground, and an open play space.
Located at the center of town has it perks, close proximity to shopping, food and entertainment! You'll find plenty of options for your inner-foodie with dozens of restaurants along the freeway. And just down the street at the Heights Shopping Center you'll find Alamo Drafthouse the first one in the DFW area. Here you'll see new releases, family and independent films, as well as monthly movie themes and specialty nights. (My favorite...Quote Along Night!)
